Fancy Feature of the Week: Dr. Bronner’s Pure Castile Soap

*By: Linz Bordner*

A staple product in my shower is Dr. Bronner’s Pure Castille Soap. For the longest time, I was trying to find a body wash without artificial or synthetic ingredients and that didn’t break me out. Then, I found Dr. Bronner’s and the rest is history.

With less than 10 ingredients including coconut and olive oil, this soap is super hydrating and makes my skin extra soft. I use the Baby Unscented kind because I have sensitive skin and try to steer clear of using soaps with heavy fragrances. The Baby Unscented is just that, “unscented” and delicate enough to use on baby’s skin, of course. If an unscented wash doesn’t do it for you, they have an array of lovely scents to choose from including lavender, peppermint, almond, and citrus.

The other great thing about this soap is that it is an all-in-one remedy. 18-in-1 to be exact! That’s right, not only can you clean your body, face, and hair with this wash, you can also clean your house, dishes, laundry, and even pets!

Dr. Bronner’s products used to be sold mainly at specialty stores, but now you can get them anywhere from your local drug store to Target. A 32-ounce bottle costs around $15.99.

There’s an added bonus…the bottle also makes for great toilet reading! Their bottles are riddled with inspirational quotes and messages about their vision of using organic and fair-trade ingredients. Their motto is “Love & honor yourselves, each other, and Earth! All-One!”

Dr. Bronner’s has been a family-owned company for 150 years. Emanuel Bronner started the company after he lost his parents in the Holocaust. He conceived the vision of humanity united beyond religious and ethnic divides, using soap labels to spread his ‘All-One’ message.
