The Apple Watch has many functionalities, but one of the features that I love the most is the fitness tracker. I have the Apple Watch Series 3 and just recently, the newest Apple Watch Series 6 has come onto the market. But for this post, I will speak to the Series 3.
I’m extremely into fitness and like to vary my exercises often, so I was excited to see what this watch had to offer. You can track pretty much every type of workout (think everything from your basic workouts to archery), and if you don’t see the workout on the menu, you can add it. Within each workout, it tracks your time, distance, heart rate, calories, and elevation. Another fitness feature is that it tracks how much you stand, move (your steps) and exercise throughout the day. For me, this is one of the highlight features, since I’m sitting in front of a computer all day. The watch will remind you it’s time to stand or it’s time for a breathing exercise. This feature helps me remember to take a break every so often and get up and move my body. Additionally, it also detects unusually high, low, and irregular heart rates.
You can also set certain fitness goals and it will alert you when your goals and challenges are met. If you’re competitive, you can share your activity ring with others and they will be notified when you finish a workout, close all three of your rings (move, stand, exercise), or you earn a reward.
Another awesome feature of this watch is that it’s waterproof. At first, I had my doubts on if it was really waterproof, but I have swam with it on numerous times and it not only works, but you can keep track of your swim stats as well.
I really love this watch and think it’s dynamic in so many ways. Depending on what model you purchase, the prices range between $200-$500, so it’s a bit of an investment. If you’re interested in more information on the current Apple Watch models, you can check them out here.
