During the hot summer months, I tend to not wear much makeup, if any at all. The idea of having foundation or mascara on and then it running down my face with sweat is something I vehemently try to avoid. However, If I do opt to wear makeup, it has to be lightweight and minimal. If you’re searching for what makeup to wear during the summer months, here are a few tips to consider for your beauty routine.

Products with SPF – If possible, try to choose skincare and makeup products that contain SPF to protect your skin from the sun. I would also recommend incorporating sunscreen into your daily skin routine, even in the winter months. Some face sunscreens to consider are Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen and Supergoop.

Tinted Moisturizer – Instead of using foundation in the summer months, swap it out for a tinted moisturizer. It’s light weight, but you still get the coverage you need, which is a win-win! Check out this tinted moisturizer from Tarte BB Cream.

Creme Blush – To achieve a sun-kissed look, use a creme blush instead of powder blush, like this cheek blush from Honest Beauty. If you’re looking for a versatile creme blush, try the Lip & Cheek Tint from Lauren Conrad Beauty.

Eyeshadow – If you’re using eyeshadows, opt for neutral, shimmery shades for an au natural look. Check out the New Nude eyeshadow palette from Huda Beauty.

Mascara – Waterproof mascara is a must-have in the summer months. The last thing you want is your mascara running as you sweat in the humidity or if you go swimming. Try L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Makeup Lash Paradise Mascara.

Lipgloss & Lipstick – Typically a high shine lipgloss is best for the summer months. However, if you want to wear lipstick, choose one that is lighter weight and cream-based to add moisture on your lips. The best part about lipstick is you can have fun trying new vibrant colors for the summer. Check out Butter Gloss from NYX Professional Makeup and Maybelline Color Sensational Ultimatte Lipstick.

Setting Spray – If you want to keep your makeup looking fresh all day, try using a setting spray, like this one from Urban Decay.
