Yess, winter is still here, but hopefully, not for much longer! Besides being sick of the treacherous weather, what I do enjoy about the long, cold season is a tasty winter cocktail and nothing is better than some hot chocolate with a little sumpin’ sumpin’ in it like bourbon. It’s the perfect drink to warm you up while adding a little pep to your step!
Ingredients:
- ½ cup bittersweet chocolate pieces
- ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 4 cups fat-free milk
- 2 tablespoons honey
- ½ cup (4 oz.) bourbon
- 1 pinch Ground cinnamon
Instructions :
- In a medium saucepan stir together chocolate pieces and cocoa powder. Whisk in 3 1/2 cups of the milk and the honey. Cook over medium just until boiling and chocolate pieces are melted, whisking constantly. Stir in bourbon.
- I used whipped cream in the photo above. However, for a frothy topper, pour the remaining 1/2 cup milk into a medium bowl. Microwave 20-30 seconds or just until warm. Beat with whisk until frothy. Serve cocoa with frothy topper and, if desired, sprinkle with cinnamon or additional cocoa powder.
